Black Veined White Butterfly

Another first for me, I had never even heard of a Black Veined White butterfly, (Aporia crataegi) so I had to publish it with its shadowed head. It is certainly not a common butterfly around here. This was taken at 1800 m altitude so I hope it's survived this afternoon's big storms. This was the view from our garden just before we had hailstones at 600 m altitude. I did try to get a lightning strike for you but just got soaking wet, much to David's amusement! At least the air is cooler now.

Lovely large wings.
