Birthday Boy
My lovely M is 70 years old today. He doesn't quite understand how that is possible as he thinks he's still really young! Which just goes to show what a 'glass half-full' frame of mind does for one.
We've had a lovely day. We both felt a little jaded first thing this morning after a dinner out and a late night. However, after a restorative coffee and a slice of toast and marmalade we figured a spot of fresh air would be just the thing so we headed off to Morston Quay. We only did a short walk along the coastal path but M enjoyed a spot of bird watching while I took a few snaps. As you can see, it's been a sparkling day, and cool but not cold (when wearing appropriate clothing).
Some of you may remember that I was making a Sachertorte birthday cake for Mark but wasn't able to get any rose petals to crystalise for decoration. I improvised with pansies out of the garden. I'm not sure I've been entirely successful with the crystalisation process but anyway I've attached a photo of the finished cake as an extra.
We're going to try some tonight as a dessert with cream after our dinner, (once M has blown out the candle and made a wish of course).
