History - E-M-F began building passenger cars in 1908, and during their brief existence (1908-1912) they also built several race cars at their factory on Piquette St. in Detroit.
This Car - was built in late 1909 at the factory to compete in the AAA light car (under 230cid) class. It is possibly the car driven by Harry Lord in the 1909 Santa Monica Road Race. Lord was instrumental in building the Los Angeles Motordrome racetrack in 1910. Santa Monica was the first major race that E-M-F competed in on the west coast.

This car - in extremely poor condition - was pulled from a shed near Phoenix in the mid-1930's. Amazingly, it survived the WWII scrap drives.
Tired old race cars were not in much demand from collectors until recently and many were "restored" into roadsters or touring cars. In 1960, this car's previous owner discarded its original race body with intentions to convert it into a roadster, but it has been restored back to its original race car configuration in 2016.
This car was painted with a brush, which was common practice during this time period. They were driven hard, often wrecked, and seldom pretty.
Current Owner - Glenn & Jeanine Miller
