Awaiting Number Three

It was hard choosing which event to attend today. But Brooklyn has at least four more basketball seasons. Her team lost today but I missed her 3-point shot. We did a few little jobs around the house (I.e., straightened my clothes closet). Before we knew it, we had to leave for Lauren’s baby “sprinkle” which was an hour from our house. I am not sure the difference between a shower and sprinkle; someone said it is because the entire family was invited. We stopped at our favorite store to get country sausage and a boneless pork loin and were still too early for the party. We rode around the neighborhood where Billy grew up. Very nice. Jamie’s family arrived just as we pulled in the driveway. I put our soon to be born great-grandson’s latest sonogram photo in the top right cell. Isn’t it amazing what they can do now? I am still trying to understand how my first granddaughter is having her third child. His brother and sister are excited about having a new baby in the family. We snapped new family photos since Jamie’s entire crew was there. Billy’s parents provided a delicious lunch before the kids opened gifts. There were a ton of little children in attendance. At one point, three were “playing” the piano at once. Jamie and I agreed it was hard watching the turmoil and saying nothing. My children knew the rules when visiting folks. We were always complimented on their good manners and behavior. Today’s parenting style is definitely different. The good news is that the younger generation is repopulating the country and today, I was pleased that the children played well together, with not one argument. Parents are to be commended for that. Hubby and I shopped for essentials on the way home. Kim invited us to come get a big container of homemade vegetable beef soup. It’s 31°F outside so soup was a delicious meal. We are considering a pilgrimage in France in October. It includes Lourdes, the American cemetery in Normandy, a visit to Mont-Saint Michel, and several other churches where well known saints are buried. I really want to go to Ireland and Scotland before we get too old to travel but this trip has so much to offer. Wishing you an exciting vacation in your future. Stay safe. Thanks for your visit. “Granddaughter, the bond we share is one of the most precious things in my life.” - parenting.firstcry.com
