Rapido

From a high of 55F yesterday to 25F today. I am astounded by the swings in temperature this winter. Yesterday also saw high winds, which accounts for the ice formations I encountered today. Wind had pushed the weakened ice sheets, causing them to buckle and break and then refreeze overnight into structures such as the one in this image.

I gingerly walked out, only 10 feet or so, testing whether the ice would bear my weight. I could hear the ice shifting and creaking and popping, which did make me rather nervous. I got my shots and left rapido.
