Take a bow

The cultural highlight of the weekend was a hugely enjoyable performance of Elgar's Dream of Gerontius in the Usher Hall. All the performers were really quality and the rich textures of the music were brought out to tremendous effect by the conductor. I particularly the loved the control over the sound volume of the chorus, surging backwards and forwards like waves.

Unfortunately, I missed out on the morning's excitement, where Mr A, A and N got a bus to Dean Bridge and then walked back along the Water of Leith, calling in to the Stockbridge Market on the way. I had to finish editing a paper I was working on on Friday, having received some comments from a couple of colleagues on Friday evening. I also attempted to do a peloton workout, but I chose poorly, with both an instructor I find unempathetic and musical choices that I cannot get in to, so I ended up terminating that after 15 minutes just before the walkers got back. Not sure when I'll get back on the peloton bike this week, which is going to be extremely busy.

After the concert, we took a bus back to Leith and had supper at the Ship on the Shore. Always one of our go to places for a good meal in a comfortable ambience. Luckily our visitors agreed with us about that.

A super social weekend.

Thanks to all for comments and congratulations. The news from Bermuda continues to be good, and we enjoyed another quick video call this evening. No pictures, however!
