Scrapbook

I compiled this scrapbook in 1958/9 when I was 12. Nottingham Forest won the FA Cup that season and obviously owe it all to me. My dad used to take me to watch, and once he did take a box wrapped in brown paper and string for me to stand on. I went to the semi final at Hillsborough and was in the queue mentioned. It was very orderly - apparently nothing like the near riot that marked the ticket sales when Forest played Bolton Wanderers in the sixth round. According to the book my brother promised me a shilling if they won the cup. They did but I can’t remember if he paid up.
Tonight they play against Ipswich in the 5th round. In 1959 they beat Birmingham City 5-0 in the second replay in the 5th round. This was played at Leicester City’s ground. Good luck to the merry men from Nottingham. Birmingham are described as ridiculous lunging huskies. The reporter Desmond Hackett said if he was  a player he’d be ashamed to play for Birmingham. Their inside forwards looked as if they should be on the list of missing persons.
