Backblipped March 3rd

By some freak of events we managed to be packed up and in the car for just after 10 as planned. It’s a long drive up to Skye so we wanted to get away sharp.

Stopped at House of Bruar for a bite to eat just before 12 and was dismayed to realise all their outdoor seating was packed away for winter. However the restaurant manager very kindly set out a table and two chairs for us in the courtyard as it was nice and sunny. Made the soup and sandwich taste much better!

Made it across to our base for the next two nights, the Hotel Eilean Iarmain, by just after 3.30 and jet up with our friends Stuart and Linda who were being shown to their room. Mr PHL took Phin for a little walk round the jetty and managed to slip on the slipway and go crashing down. He was filthy and managed to twist his knee in the process.

The hotel staff couldn’t have been nicer and offered to wash his fleece which was very clarty. We got checked in, he changed his damp jeans and we headed to the bar for a restorative pint and that was the extent of our movement for the evening. I took Phin for a quick walk at teatime and gave him his dinner and it was back to the bar for another drink before dinner. Fresh langoustine with sourdough and garlic butter were just the ticket for my main course.

We retired to the lounge after dinner for a nightcap and plans to play dominoes but the chat was so good we didn’t.

Everyone made such a fuss of Phin, he loved it.
