Old and New

This morning we made a quick cycle trip into town to drop off some old unwanted outdoor clothing at the  Rohan shop for their Gift your Gear scheme, which allowed us, in return, discount on some new shirts.
This afternoon I took my Mum to the dental hygienist and then to the running shoe shop next door, where she purchased a new pair of trainers!
Then it was back to my house for a cup of tea. I showed her the old xylophone I found, recently, and she was very keen to play a tune.  Here she is serenading me. Note the new footwear- they are very similar to her old pair which have proved very successful due to the foot support and cushioning. 
Later, we had an email from friends, L &P, to say their son's wife had just given birth to their first grandchild-  a girl named Anastasia. 
While happy for them, personally, we can't help thinking what a precarious time to be born with the world in such a terrible  state.
