The Gander
Both of us had doctor appointments this morning. Hubby’s was earliest, a consult to set up his colonoscopy. Poor guy gets the liquid poison - movi-prep. I had my annual Medicare physical. My doctor was pleased with my health except she wants me to lose weight. I agree completely. It helps that Lent starts tomorrow (no sweets). She said my Lent sacrifices need to last until my next appointment in three months. Oh woe is me! With spring close, it will be easier to get in a daily walk too. I stopped at a catchment pond on the way home. It was chilly and windy. There are usually several ducks and geese there. The pond was almost dry. There was only one pair of geese to be seen. I thought the female was dead but my sister stopped later and checked on the couple. The female had just settled down on her nest and was hiding in the grasses. That was a relief. We picked up Brooklyn from her bus stop and took her home to get ready for basketball practice. Playoffs start Sunday. Hubby dropped me at home and headed to our church hall to work at our Shrove Tuesday pancake supper. I took a nap. He will bring me dinner after the event closes and they set up for tomorrow’s Ash Wednesday Masses. Father mentioned on Sunday that our renovation project is at the halfway mark. They expect to be finished by Palm Sunday. Wishing you a tall stack of pancakes for Mardi Gras. Stay safe. Thanks for your visit. “It was cold and windy, scarcely the day to take a walk on that Long Beach…. The rackety, icy, offshore wind numbed our faces on one side; disrupted the formation of a lone flight of Canada geese; and blew back the low, inaudible rollers in upright, steely mist”. - Elizabeth Bishop
