Old friend, New Club

Other than bumping into our friend Harry on the street last year on 27th November, we haven't seen much of him in recent years. Tonight we made up for this with a massive three-way catch-up session at the New Club. Here Harry treated us to dinner.

Neither Mr hazelh nor I have visited the New Club before, so we were very interested to see the facilities (although disappointed that the library was inaccessible due to a meeting in progress), and to sample the fare in the bar and the dining room.

The dinner was delicious. I particularly enjoyed my chicken parfait starter and hake main course. The menu amused us somewhat when we saw that the pudding list includes Welsh rarebit and devils on horseback. We assume that this is a nod to the C18th origins of the Club.

The rest of my day was split between exercise and Mummy hazelh admin (yes, even more). I have cleaned and sorted into piles the pictures that we picked up from the auctioneer yesterday. A couple are already hanging in our flat, a few need to be reframed before display, a small batch is destined for Mummy hazelh's bedroom at her care home, and the rest will be taken south by my middle sister. Once my cleaning and sorting tasks were complete, I updated my 'auction' spreadsheet.

My blip is of the stained glass window at the New Club that marks the diamond jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.

Exercise today: 1 hour on the exercise bike; 5k run; walking (18,138 steps including run).
