Juvenile Starling

I decided to take some morning shots of the crowd of juvenile delinquents starlings that congregate in their hordes at various points in the day on and under and around our bird-feeder.

Unusually I have stuck today with one of these early pictures rather than choosing a later one.

I love the colours on these birds as they change from their early 'baby' plumage to the more adult versions - it's almost as if they are wearing disguises so no-one will recognize them! And then they give themselves away by pushing and shoving each other in an attempt to be top dog (or in this case top bird) in the literal 'pecking order'.

Somewhat similar to teenagers I think! Of course those of us who have progressed into mature adulthood would never do that would we? !!! Something to think about!
