Crocus with lupin
The crocuses at the front and back of our house opened up to enjoy the fine weather today. Meanwhile I trekked here, there, and everywhere.
First I met Liz at Continis on George Street for a long, and at times tearful, heart-to-heart. An hour and a half later we parted ways. When Liz headed off to meet another friend for lunch, Mr hazelh collected me for a shopping trip.
Over the next couple of hours we went to Tiso for walking socks, McIntyres for a combined (late) Christmas and (early) birthday present, the PDSA for +2.5 reading glasses, Ryman for a 2025/6 academic diary (not yet available), 20:20 for new varifocals in my old spectacle frames, John Lewis to look at sofas, and Crombies for a chicken. In the middle of all this, we took a break lunch at Pizza Posto.
Back home, I researched sofas to see if I could find any better than the one that we like at John Lewis (answer=no), put away some washing, and caught up on online admin tasks. Before long, it was time for me to head out the door again.
I spent the evening at the gym. I didn't take any exercise, but instead attended a talk on radical thinking by Professor Peter Lamont. I walked there following my usual route along the Water of Leith. I won't be doing that again after dark. It felt very spooky and slightly dangerous with only the moonlight for illumination. Sensibly I returned home through town.
Exercise today: 1 hour on the exercise bike; walking (21,638 steps).
