A New Dawn…..

…..has broken, has it not? 

I remember Tony Blair (you may or may not be a fan ) saying these words in the spring of 1997 on the steps of 10 Downing Street. He was , of course, referring to Labours return to power after 18 years in the political wilderness. I was a young 20 something politics/history teacher and a whole bunch of us had stayed up all night to watch the election - most of us were liberals, some Tory’s….more importantly, we were all friends who could agree to disagree. I remember it ( as we do when we are young ) as an era of optimism. 

How times have changed. A new dawn is indeed breaking … in ways my 20 something self could never,  ever have imagined….
