Exotic

The Tropical Coral Tree (Erythina) this to me always looks Exotic, when its in flower, early Spring this tree will not have a single leaf left on its branches all you have is the flower, which always looks amazing! This one just down the road from where we live was planted by the Shire in the centre of a roundabout of all places, there it sits this majestic splendour! The honeyeaters and (hummingbirds, none in W.A) all love the Nectar from this flower.

Its a global tropical genus, i think there are over 100 species with at least one species growing on every tropical continent around the world, most Caribbean Islands, Madagascar, Southern California even the Galapagos Islands have their own species of this Coral Tree. Its grown throughout India and the Philippines also the Solomon Islands.

(In some states in the U.S its known as an Erythina herbecea only a few of those can tolerate a bit of frost) not to mistake it for the Tropical Coral Tree. I would like to know though if anyone has seen it around the globe and what the flower looks like from another Species, that would be very interesting!
