Inglebrough from the north
After our recent excellent meal at the Italian restaurant in Ingleton, we decided that this evening we'd complete our day by trying the equivalent in Settle.
We set off early so we could take a scenic route and, from the west, Ingleton looked amazing with a flat bank of cloud looking like white hair streaming south from its summit. (Unfortunately I couldn't pull over to take a photo until we were too far north so capture the effect.)
We parked up in Settle and found the restaurant, which was tucked away down some stairs, with a seating area in what must have once been a cellar. There was probably room for half a dozen tables and normally I think it would have been quite cosy.
However, this evening, some tables had been pushed together to seat maybe ten people, with three or four other tables arranged around the edge of the room.
We were followed in by a group of ladies, possibly a hen party, although not at all rowdy, just having a good time. But it was immediately apparent it was going to be way too loud for enjoying dinner à deux.
Fortunately, the Minx had spotted a Thai restaurant up some stairs and (kind of) overlooking the square, so we headed up there.
We were greeted by a friendly Yorkshireman who welcomed us but said he only had water to drink. "It's all right, though; I own the off licence next door so you can go and grab something from there." So I did!
It was an odd place in some respects; kind of 'a takeaway but you can eat in' vibe. So we had a lovely table by the window but the food was delivered in takeaway cartons! But the crockery was fine, as were the chopsticks, and the food was really good :-)
