My last event
J had wanted to see this event and I thought I could fit it in before going to catch my train. So we drove into town, and thank goodness we did as what I thought was a one hour event plus questions was a 1.5 hour event. The author talked to us about his books on the Siege of Leningrad (St Petersburg as it is now) in WW2. The trouble was that it was so interesting we didn’t want to leave. It was an amazing event. Nobody moved. We all sat in silence listening to this man. When the questions started we even had some excitement as two of the audience started arguing about their opposing views of Russia. A first for me at a book festival. A rapid change of topic by the host quickly sorted that out, and sadly we needed to leave before the end due to time pressures. If you haven’t heard of this author I would recommend him to you.
We got to the station in time and I had excellent passenger assistance all the way. Mr D picked me up in Oxenholme.
