Grand Palace

We explored the national/ceremonial area of Bangkok today, including the over-the-top flamboyant Grand Palace. It was built over a 100-year period, from 1782, and was designed by John Clunish, a British architect based in Singapore.

We started the day with breakfast in our hotel garden, shown in the extra. 

During the day we stayed in touch with family and friends in Brisbane, checking on their welfare as Tropical Cyclone Alfred passed through. Fortunately, all are OK.
