On tow….
All go again today.
This lorry arrived in at 6.30am to collect the 20 heifers I’ve sold. They are off to a new home in Yorkshire.
The yard was a wee bit greasy and I ended up having to tow the lorry up the hill with a tractor until he got onto the level. Not the first time we’ve had to do that, and no doubt it won’t be the last.
Once he was away, the contractors arrived in to muck out the cattle sheds and cart the dung down the road to the arable ground. It will get spread on the fields that are going into spring barley before they are ploughed and sown. They had everything done by 5pm.
DM called in at lunch time to look the remaining 28 hefs that are still to sell. A bit of a chat, cattle viewed, price agreed, hand shake to seal the deal, job done. Hopefully they will get collected on Monday.
