Totemic

An electronic communications pole has appeared on the pavement that I walk along when heading into the village. This is quite a narrow pavement which is now effectively narrower and it will be quite a squeeze to get past it for people using mobility scooters or wheelchairs. Attached to the pole was a notice advising how to object to the pole, which brings the words 'stable door' and 'bolting horse' to mind. Rather totemic, I thought, of the disregard that privatised utilities have for the local communities they are supposed to serve.
