Uncovering da Briggistanes

A beautiful calm morning, some sunshine and mist on the hills.  Started to rain after lunch, rained all afternoon and evening, windy now too.

Up fairly early, met friend Julie for walkies.  A morning clearing out the greenhouse and a tidy around the garden.  Me, peerie Brian and Julie headed to Sunday Teas in Whiteness, then a run to the Nesting Scrap Store.  Mam and dad popped by for a cuppa before teatime.  A lazy evening at home, no weather for walkies.

After a visit to the Scrap Store, we took a detour for a look around.  I spotted some works going on below some old croft houses.  Looks like someone has been busy uncovering the old briggistanes.  Briggistanes is a Shetland word for the flat stones laid in front of a dwelling.  It's great to see these again, wonder if they'll make them a feature of the garden? I'll have to come back for a look later in the year.  Taken at Gletness, South Nesting.
