Sharp
Show day today and it was a great turn out. Despite it being overcast, muggy and there being a slight spit in the air for most of the day (NB sun is out now) there were more people there than I've seen in the past couple of years.
All the livestock was looking purty, the poultry tent was it's usual noisy self, the horses were happily jumping over things and the dogs were either looking aloof in their breed classes or trying to eat the rabbits alongside them in the pet class.
Vans selling ice cream and chips (not together, although I'm sure you could have if you wished) alongside charity stalls, strange farming equipment, and groups of folk catching up with people they were frantically trying to mind the names of and of course stray children being tracked down by parents.
Inside the hall was packed with lots of baking and jams and crafts and vegetables. The highlight as always being the 'vegetable animal' class. I had decided to be brave and enter the white loaf class - the only bread category. I wasn't holding out any great hopes as it was a bit well fired and the standard of baking is always very, very high. Didn't get anywhere with it, some of the others looked fantastic. Must practice more for next year.
Ru however did go one better than last year and got second with his cactus. I of course managed to take lots of out of unsharp pictures of a very sharp jaggy plant.
