Not the best start to the week :0(
Went to hay the big boys this morning and noticed Indy struggling with it a bit. Closer inspection revealed some blood on his bottom lip. He wasn't keen on me looking in his mouth but when I did I saw what looked like half his tooth snapped in two and wedged backwards. Arggh!!
Rang the vets and needed to take him in. I've never taken him anywhere in my lorry and only fed him in there once so I was a little worried about getting him there. However he loaded fine.
Fortunately an x-ray revealed the bit still in his gum is his adult tooth coming through. The bit that was wedged backwards was luckily a cap which would have come out eventually. Apparently there was still quite a bit of gum attached which the vet had to cut away so he had to have a local anaesthetic. Not sure how he's done it- possibly a kick from Buddy. Buddy wouldn't come down the field for his hay which is quite unusual and he seemed to be skulking a bit at the top of the field looking guilty!
Anyway he was back home by 3pm and loaded fine on the way home although he was a little stressed. It's not how I planned our first outing in the lorry to go - hopefully it won't put him off going in again. Need to make sure we go somewhere fun next time!!
