Ups and Downs
We woke up to more sad news: another friend from our prayer group passed on Saturday. Eleanor is our Deacon’s wife; she has been ill for a while. He has been run ragged fulfilling his Deacon duties and caring for her for months. Hubby participated in a funeral today for one of his KofC friends. He said the priest was with Stanley when he passed and choked up on the altar while delivering a tribute. We knew he was a devout Catholic but he did much for his church and community that others were unaware of. The Civil Air Patrol joined the Knights in standing honor guard prior to the funeral. I took care of the birds and laundry while he was gone. I’d say we had our first spring-like day. My crocus are finally blooming. I scrubbed the table on the back porch and actually had lunch outside! What a joy. I chatted with my mother this morning. She and my sister Barbara will go to Ridge for the weekly Monday card game. It’s a beautiful day for her to enjoy a little sunshine. Parker turns 17 today; just cannot imagine it. I remember when he’d join Brooklyn and me on the back porch for lunch. So blessed to have such a loving relationship with our grands. Hubby gets a list of incoming daily mail from the USPS. We expect to see a summons for him to be on jury duty during the next period. That may put a crimp on our vacation plans. Jamie invited us to join his family at the beach first week of July. And we’ve already paid for the France trip. Oh boy! I’m going to take a quick nap ( woke up at 4:30 am so I am exhausted.). Then I plan to make a cake for our recently passed friend Dave’s family. They anticipate a lot of visitors. I will also make baked chicken for dinner. Wishing you a simple but tasty dinner. Stay safe. Thanks for visiting. “The first blooms of spring always make my heart sing.” ― S. Brown
