And while still at Cowra
We couldn’t leave Cowra without visiting my old friend Brian who’s 85yo but not the average octogenarian. He excitedly announced he’d just got a new bike - no, not an exercise bike like isbi and I have just purchased but a 1953 Vincent Comet in running order, an absolutely legendary machine!!
The main blip shows isbi in full motorcycling attire about to take one of Brian’s mid ‘60s Velocette Thruxtons for a spin. Blipper rustycrapp will like this one as he’s a great fan of fishtail pipes. First extra shows Brian (L) and his neighbour Jim admiring the Vincent while sifting through the accompanying paperwork. Second extra is of a ‘50s BSA 500cc Gold Star while behind it is a yellow 1970 250cc Suzuki Hustler, almost identical to my first bike. The black monster in the top right corner is a 1948 Sunbeam S7. Final blip is a 1972 Suzuki GT550 triple (Brian’s runabout) which, being much lighter than anything else, he bought for his yearly motorcycle license test. It’s an absolute beast - I wouldn’t recommend it for anybody other than a very experienced rider!!
That’s less than half of Brian’s bikes. I jokingly asked if he could fit any more in the shed. He frowned and said “actually, I’m very tempted! There’s a 1959 Norton Dominator 600 that I’ve seen for sale”. He clearly has no plans for retirement!
