Taking a look inside Ghandi's room
Our guide for the next few days picked us up at the hotel as agreed and then started the city tour of Ahmedabad with us. First we walked through the old neighbourhoods with their historic, richly decorated wooden buildings. In the afternoon, we then travelled a little further afield by car, where we visited the Gandhi Ashram, which now houses a museum. Gandhi lived here for several years before he started the famous march to break the salt law. In the blip (and in the extra) is a view of his room.
PS: It‘s very hot and according to a local newspaper article the temperature passed the 40 degrees Celsius for the first time this year and various precautions are in place. To my surprise also this one: „… Moreover, in a big relief to citizens, traffic signals of the city will be turned off for 6 hours (11 am to 4 pm), so that commuters don't have to stop at crossroads and can avoid heat-related discomfort.“
