Back from the Brink...

The cornflower has been named as one of 101 species that the conservation charity Plantlife is working to bring 'back from the brink,' because it is now endangered.

It's name comes from the fact that it used to grow in crop (corn) fields as a weed, but agricultural intensification has destroyed many of its habitats.

We love them in our Inishkea garden, as well as for cut flowers... love the intense blue.
