A fresh start to the
day with the aftermath of
rain and thunder here

~carliewired

Thunder rolled over us last evening after dark. Suddenly, rain was pounding my roof. I poked my head out the back door to get a breath of fresh air. It felt wonderful after this long drought.

This morning it felt refreshed outside with my bird friends bopping around the neighbourhood. We were given a flood advisory last evening but there are no puddles to be seen in my yard, only a soggy door mat.

The mockingbird, always my star, landed on the neighbour's carport. He didn't come any closer. A dove took the light pole roost next door. Then a mystery bird perched in my orange tree and began to sing. This could be a kind of flycatcher or warbler. It didn't stay long enough to determine which.

I imagine that my bougainvilleas enjoyed the drink. I'm sure the birds did too. Our local news reported that this rain last evening ended a dry streak of 215 days and showed the Fortuna Wash where we painted on Monday flowing like a river. People here in the Foothills recorded a rainfall of 1. 84 inches.

I'm home with a short painting lesson online this morning before noon. I might spend my day in pajamas.
