Corfe Castle
My plan today was to visit Corfe Castle before moving on to nearby RSPB Arne. However, it was a staff training day at the Castle, which was closed, so I had to make do with a view from the Scott Arms car park. Arne is a big reserve, so I focussed on just one part - a good day nevertheless. No close view photos, but in the extras a south coast speciality in winter, the dark-bellied Brent Geese. They travel here from Siberia.
This evening my sister and I travelled to the village hall at Marnhull for an Artsreach event. It was three years ago that our mum died, next week would have been her 105th birthday. She was a big fan of popular (in the 1940’s and early 1950’s, before her very early death) contralto Kathleen Ferrier. So the show “The Making of Kathleen Ferrier, Whattalife” seemed a good idea. Lucy Stevens acted and sung (and wrote the show with Chris Baldwin), Elizabeth Marcus played the piano. A minimalist set (extra), the whole was tremendous.
