Skimming Stones at Low Tide

Spent a lovely couple of hours or so today with R, a girl I used to work with, and her husband S who are on holiday in Argyll. It was great that they looked us up and wonderful to catch up with all the news.

It was a bit cloudy when they arrived, but by the time we had finished lunch the sun was out so we moved to the terrace to enjoy the rays and view. After they had left and we had tidied up I decided to have a walk down to the shore with the camera. The late afternoon sun produced wonderful light and shadows and white puffy clouds sat on the horizon.

With it being high tourist season it's almost impossible to get a landscape without people, so I decided to make them part of the scene. I settled on this one as the 2 young lads on the left were skimming stones across the river, something most children who reach this point seem to do! You might just be able to make out the ripples on the water from the skimmed stone. Further to the right 2 ladies and their dogs keep an eye on their children as they swim in "The Hole" - a short length of the river where fishing boats used to be tied up. If you go large you might just be able to make out some people with more dogs wading in the sea.

The nice thing about a day like this is the sounds you hear, which are full of children laughing and having fun on their holiday.
