World domination

Back in the spring I naively planted 6 butternut squash seeds thinking that would be plenty as I knew the plants could get big. Fortunately only 5 seeds took because now I am rapidly loosing allotment space to these monsters! I am very pleased though as a) I love squash (especially roasted with sage...) and b) they do keep for quite a while before you have to use them so I can pace myself on eating them.

As for the rest of the allotment I have spent the whole evening cooking to try to preserve the glut of veg we now have. I have made a cauliflower, potato & spinach curry, more courgette and pea soup (with a bit more mint this time) and as the apple trees are getting going in the garden I have also been stewing those too! I need a bigger freezer!
