The street
I went down to Gateshead today (Crosscountry trains in both directions, but regrettably no sign of youngie!) and was keen to get a photo of the cement works just south of Dunbar. But they're just too damn close to the railway and I only managed a blur - never mind, here's one that Mr Smith kindly prepared earlier.
Reason was, that I'd seen a news item about a newly published report of an archaeological excavation on the site of the very cement works, where there had previously been a hill fort and where people had lived for approx 1000 years. Now, I'm used to reports on digs taking a long time to be published - five years is not unusual, ten years even......but this one seems to have taken almost forty years to see the light of day. Fascinating stuff.
So instead I've blipped some people milling about the street art beside the Iron Duke's statue, taken from the top of a number 22 for any bus spotters who may be paying attention.
