Morning paddle
Lots of photo ops today but settled on a view from our morning kayak trip in Okarito lagoon. It was lovely a peaceful (until we encountered a few other kayaks up a creek!), with reflections and wading birds. We had glimpses of the mountain tops and glaciers amongst the clouds.
When we got back to the campsite new arrivals had brought in my SIL and husband, and niece with her partner. This has been a planned/chance meet up. They are travelling south as we head north and Okarito happening to be the point where we overlapped!
Great to catch up with them all and hear about their adventures. We had dinner together then had a fire on the beach. With a cloudy sky the sunset was muted and we anxiously waited for a glimpse of the forecast lunar eclipse. We were rewarded when the clouds broke enough for a view of the moon - a strange dark colour with just a slither of light at one edge.
None of us could quite explain what was happening and how it differs from the normal pattern of the moon- all promised to to google for more info.
