Whitebridge Cemetery
I was mixing some sourdough loaves this morning and got a text to tell me my Aunt's friend was running late for our coffee catch up. Well so was I and you know when you are in a hurry and get stuck behind a hesitant driver who waits extra time at Give ways when there is no cars to be seen, slows down for no reason (that I could work out) and pulls over too close to the curb or the centre lane for no reason. You don't get close to them because they are unpredictable and now I just count 10, keep my distance and get disappointed when they turn left when I am turning left and go straight ahead when I am going straight ahead. A red golf behind me had no such patience and overtook both of us doing at least 70 kph in a 50 kph zone.
Anyway, following our coffee catch up I took Maggy for a romp in the field next to the cemetery which is just near where we have coffee. While I was there I thought I would have a look around the cemetery itself. It was dedicated in 1893 and was originally planned like an English formal garden with graves located in circles and semi-circles dotted around the cemetery. Many victims from the 1898 Dudley Colliery explosion are buried in this cemetery.
I don't know if you can see it from this image but this grave of Chelsea-Leigh Rees was actually part of a semi circle. It had two chairs and a table next to it and I thought how cheery it was for a grave and was obviously visited often. A young life cut short.
Thanks for the love on yesterdays too. I am a bit behind on blip at the moment.
