Cherry plum

We managed to walk up the road to the Green this afternoon, but Smithers needed to sit and have a rest once we were on the flat. I wandered off with my camera and looked for photo opportunities. I was delighted to see some Queen Anne’s Lace out in flower already, and the cherry plum blossom was looking gorgeous. It wasn’t easy to photograph because the wind got up at that point, so it was a question of fast shutter speed and bending the knees to look upwards for a blue sky background.

In the end I’ve chosen a different shot, without the blue sky, because the blossom is sharper. I do so love the tiny yellow stamens on their long stalks, with the background of the delicate white petals.
