Icy Blast

Merlin seems to have decided it’s time for the clocks to go forward as he wakes us at 6.30 each morning quite insistent that it’s time for us to get up. I got up a little later than that and after breakfast walked to the allotment to measure an area where I plan to place a new compost bin. By the time I returned Andy and Merlin were ready for a walk in Emsworth. It was busy out, especially so for the farmers market being held in town. The mill pond which was empty of water last week had been refilled and so the miniature sail boats were there racing again. We stopped to watch them but the icy blast of a north-easterly wind made it feel rather uncomfortable and only bearable for the glimpses of sun which appeared from time to time to warm the air and add some brightness.

Also today:
I’ve sorted out some seeds to sow this coming week.
I bought a perennial kale plant. Apparently it should last several years and may grow up to two metres tall. It is possible to take cuttings from side shoots to create new plants. I’m interested to see how it grows and hoping it will provide us with kale through the year.
Andy cooked a curry with naan for dinner.
There a very big bright moon lighting up the sky.
