Meanderings

Poor timing, methinks.

The post was full of bills today, all expected at time of year, and with the council tax bill came this flyer. Not that any of these changes are due in this part of the city until October/November-ish, but in the current situation over rubbish collection, the suspension of all recycling and garden waste, the closure for refurbishment of one of the household recycling centres, which I can't get to anyway, not having a car, it struck me as particularly tactless to be advertising changes. Oh, and the 7.5% rise in council tax.

Still, in much more pleasant news, the on-going non-delivery of my new lawn mower has now resolved in a refund, the same model has been ordered from somewhere else and I shall collect it from the store rather than organise delivery.

And the even more exciting news is the last round of workplace exam support has resulted in excellent passes and, for two of them, release from mandatory English sessions, as the required post 16 level in Functional Skills has been achieved. (I work in our Maths department, which is where the vast majority of my exam support happens, but occasionally I get called on to do English exam support especially if they are students I've worked well with in Maths.)
