Amp
OK, so the fiery sky-ball was out but it was still baltic and there's still patches of frost on the ground. But there's also geese so that was alright.
After the paper run and breakfast I did the most boring job ever and sorted all the cables that were lying on the floor through the back where I'd tipped them because I needed the crate. As if that wasn't boring enough I also labelled all the power supplies, mainly because the text is so small that I can't read it.
Gardening hour was me taking a saw to the beech hedging and then shoving it into the shredder. Tidier. I'll maybe do the plum tree tomorrow.
After that, I went to Tesco and amused the click and collect woman by loading all the shopping onto my bike and then rolled home. And then onto Blackness to pick up the amp from Forthports. Since it had been sitting outside I thought better of plugging it in so just started dismantling it. Took the empty case outside to clean it and it came up nicely. The speaker looks OK but the electrics are odd. Someone has been into it already. The power connections from the plug to the switch and to the transformer have all been detached (so it wouldn't have mattered if I'd plugged it in) and it looks like the two smoothing capacitors immediately after the transformer are domed, which means they've either failed or are about to fail. I won't know if the rest of it works until they've been replaced but in the meantime I'm looking skeptically at the transformer. I'll disconnect that and check it tomorrow.
