The trail of the dead

It's still a splendid tree but not quite as nice as it is from the other side, without the  drama of the sun at its back.

Phil came round and we poked at the amp, took out the two dodgy looking capacitors and confirmed that they are dead, took out the bridge rectifier and though it seems OK, it'll get replaced anyway and also the Class X capacitor at the power input, which is measuring lower than it should be. So, something like a power surge or an internal short has blown the capacitor before the transformer, the capacitors after the transformer and maybe damaged the rectifier but everything else around where the power comes in, including the transformer which seems fine. None of that explains why someone opened it up, disconnected all the power and then left it in the woods. That's weird.
