Sunshine on City Hall
This is Bradford City Hall but I have to admit we do all still call it the Town Hall despite Bradford being a city for over 100 years!
Passing last month, having been to see Hamilton at the Alhambra Theatre, we noticed the pink structure but didn’t know what it was. Passing again today I decided I would take a picture of it for blip. (Several other blippers have already done so) It is called the Ramadan Pavillion and when passing it was out of the sun but I liked this wide angle shot with the sun behind the lovely bell/clock tower modelled on the campanile in Florence. I’m entering it for Wide Wednesday even though it doesn’t fit the theme of animals for today, though there is a pigeon!
I needed to visit the bank in Bradford today so took the bus. We thought it would be a good idea to combine it with a visit to one of the Bradford 25 ( city of culture) pop up events. Extraordinary Portraits with Bill Bailey. Unfortunately that’s only on from Thursday to Sunday. Not sure if we’ll be able to fit that in now as we’ve a lot on over the next three weeks.
Banking done we went to Waterstones for a coffee which is hosted in another of Bradford’s great buildings, the historic Wool Exchange.
Walked back across the city centre where the pink Pavillion was now in the sun. The city centre is now largely pedestrianised and looking good. We popped in to the interchange (bus and train station) to take a look. Not quite finished as our bus is still not using it but looking good with lots of coloured glass being illuminated by the sun. ( It has been closed due to issues with concrete deterioration )
In the extra you can see the more usual view of the City Hall and Centenary Square/ City Park and the Alhambra Theatre and Bradford Live buildings opposite. The sign for Bradford 2025 is outside the Interchange. A lady sitting enjoying the sun beside it said it looked great lit up at night.
Another great blue sky day and after the very frosty start it has been much warmer today, less of that sneaky cold wind. More tomorrow!
