A pause for butterflies

A comma, (comma) of course...

This delightful sunlit comma butterfly was on the viburnum in the back garden this morning, just as I got back from the Charfield Nature Reserve having been inducted into the mystical service of the UK Butterfly Monitoring Scheme (UKBMS).

The Wildlife Trust has been maintaining a survey of the reserve for at least ten years, but the volunteer had decided to step back, and now the volunteer is me. And with luck other people, but we all know about the modern aversion to volunteering...

The survey runs from April to September. Given that I generally walk over to the nature reserve at least a couple of times a week it should give me no trouble to spend some time looking at butterflies... and you know I'm going to have my camera with me. :-)

I'll try not to be a butterfly bore...
