Intent

The bluetits have a regular, short flight path between the quince tree and the bird feeders. The tree gives them cover; they really don't like to linger on the more exposed feeders. This was a quick grab shot today, as I watched from the back bedroom window.
I spent a lot of the morning at the optician's, both having a routine eye test and then ordering a new pair of varifocals.  There have only been small changes, fortunately.
Later I had a haircut, so it's really been a day of body maintenance.
Russell, who has been cutting my hair for 25 years, is preparing for prostrate cancer treatment. He runs his salon alone now, so each visit can be an opportunity for some quite personal chats.  Over the years we've shared major and minor work problems, exchanged film and music recommendations, watched our kids grow older and shared photos of grandkids.  He's the only hairdresser I've ever felt at ease with; usually the experience of staring at myself in the mirror just makes me intensely self-conscious.
Being Russell, he's approaching the impending cancer treatment very methodically: improving his diet, researching and practising exercises to strengthen core muscles (yes, we talked about pelvic floor health... not just an issue for women).  The prognosis is good, the cancer is at an early stage and the proposed treatment is one of the least invasive options (brachytherapy - the implanting of tiny radioactive 'seeds').  Still, it's fingers crossed.
