The unexpected cone
Today I was going to spend a nice afternoon at Mom's. I got there and Mom had lunch then took a nap. I took Frodo for a walk. He's lived out there for five and a half years and has never cut himself on the barbwire fence... until today. We were starting the second part of our walk and I noticed what I thought was blood on the ground and kept seeing more. Then I called him back and saw his whole back foot was bloody so that ended the walk. Back to the house and I went in got paper towels and some gauze, an ace bandage and some tape. I figured it needed some pressure to stop bleeding. He was so good and let me wrap it up. I left him outside so he didn't track blood all over the house.
Once Mom was up we called the vet and they wanted us to bring him in. Catherine had Mom's car in town so we drove my car back in, dropped off Frodo and came and hung out at my house. They had to sedate him to clean and stitch it up and of course he got a cone because they didn't bandage it. Poor guy. He was woozy and had a hard time getting back into the car. Then back out to Mom's. I had dinner with them and left them to give him his antibiotics and just got back to town. Whew...
I think I'm ready for bed now.
