Camping

After a break of several years we decided to join the Bluebell Fun Run in Brenham TX again. Years ago my kids would run this race. I ran it from 2016-2020. In 2020 we signed up, but due to Covid they made it a virtual race. Then, around that same time, I found out I had breast cancer, and I wasn’t able to run for quite some time. Even long after treatment was done, my joints hurt so much that I couldn’t run.
So after a break of 4 years, I will run the Bluebell 5K tomorrow.Today we drove to Brenham and picked up our shirt and bib. I was surprised to also get a medal already. Afterwards we drove to a camping spot at Lake Somerville where we cooked dinner and enjoyed a beautiful sunset.
I’m excited for tomorrow. I hope to beat my slowest time. Although I probably should have trained a little more, but we’ll see. Most important is the fact that I can run this race again.
