I watched some of the live D.O.G.E. Senate hearing this morning. After about forty minutes I stopped. I'm so glad I did; it would have been a waste of a beautiful day and achieved nothing but making me angry. The fact that Elon Musk did not even bother to show up to even discuss the possibility of answering questions about D.O.G.E.'s plans and procedures at an enquiry speaks volumes, yet the Republicans insist D.O.G.E.'s activities are 100% transparent! The most jaw-dropping moment of sheer insanity might have been when Republican Beth Van Duyne of Texas played a series of clips on her phone of Donald Trump saying that he will not go after social security as proof that Donald Trump has no intention of going after social security as the Social Security Administration is cutting thousands of jobs and closing offices! Or it might have been when Republicans repeatedly claimed that Social Security Offices are inefficient and that is why they need to be slashed, including, a leaked memo claims, by cutting its toll-free telephone line. Heck of a way to increase efficiency.

As I sit down to type this, I see that the hearing is still in progress, four hours later! So glad I stopped watching and went out for 22km run instead.  It was wonderful. I'll go out for a nice walk after publishing this and not waste any more time on this insult to people's intelligence.
