Night-time Paphos.
M and I thought we might do a bit of jetskiing today so after a spot of breakfast we wandered to the beach for a look. The prices were very high - €45 for 15 minutes – and we decided against it. The price of pretty much everything here is similar, if not more expensive, than the UK; possibly because we’re in one of Cyprus’ touristy areas. We decided we’d prefer a fancy lunch rather than 15 minutes on a jetski, so we settled down on the beach to read our books and wait until we were REALLY hungry!
I had a swim in the sea, and I think something had a nibble at my ankle. I’m sure it wasn’t a sting as the pain wasn’t long-lasting – just a wee sharp snick which made me jump, then nothing. Weird!
After a snooze on the loungers and more reading, we headed off to the beachfront to a restaurant called The Moorings for some meze. It was immense! Greek salad, dips and pita to start, then plate after plate of meat, with chips and bread. Just when we thought we couldn’t eat another bite, another tempting dish of souvlaki or kleftiko would arrive. Soon we were rendered nearly immobile (although we managed to stagger from the table to a sofa and order a beer) so we sat in the sun a little while like snakes after a big meal!
We meandered home reeeeeally slowly and melted into the sun loungers on the balcony. Later, we had another walk by the beach (it's no cooler in the dark, but is very pretty), then played poker by candlelight but there was no winner. We’ll have to pick it up tomorrow night!
