Pensive Pizza At The Harbour, Whitstable

Today as the weather prospects looked like they were going to be good we decided to head to Margate for another seaside photographic safari. Unfortunately as we continued on our journey the weather stayed mainly overcast with just weak peeks of sunshine now and again. Therefore, we didn't have the feels for going all the way there and chose to go to Whitstable again, which is quite a bit nearer. We were also starving as we hadn't had any breakfast so as soon as we parked the car and had a small walk to stretch our legs we chose to go back to The Duke of Cumberland pub on the high street for some food and a drink.
After our repast we headed to the harbour and that's where I took my main image and the first extra. I noticed this woman and her stylishly dressed hound and luckily, for a few seconds, the drift of people walking along the quay parted and there was my shot.
I've been watching quite a few You Tube photography videos recently and one that caught my eye was by Tim Jamieson and featured a day of street portrait photography with his fellow snapper Matt Peers. See below, it's well worth a look:

Matt came across as such a lovely, friendly bloke and his approach was gentle, kind and really informative so when I got the chance I thought I'd give it a go. That's when I spotted this man (in my first extra) leaning against one of the fishing sheds and I sort of half asked if it was okay to take his portrait. He nodded his approval and so I took my image. Rather than walk away we started having a friendly chat about photography at the seaside. He then told me a story about a trip to Dungeness that he took to buy some fresh fish and that while he was in the establishment Ed Sheeran walked in! He told me a was lovely genuine fella with no airs or graces. It was such nice conversation to have and we then wished each other a great rest of the day. My only disappointment with myself was that I forgot to ask his name or if he wanted a copy of the photograph. Next time I will make sure that I do that.
After our walk round the harbour we ventured down some of the back streets and that's where I took the final two images. I think humour is an underrated aspect of photography and when I spotted this seagull above the rear of this cafe I was just thinking it's probably tried everything bar the cocktails! With the last image I loved the contrast between the prisitine white house and it's bricked up neighbour. It was then that I saw the glimpse of the black and white car that if it only eased out of it's location and peered round the corner it would spot the perfect parking place next to its like-minded bedfellow!
By the time we'd done all that walking we felt it was time to head home. My brother was pretty tired by the time we got back (he does all the driving) but as it was Friday we bought a couple of ready meals to bung in the oven so we could just put our feet up and relax.
All in all a very enjoyable day, if unexpected.
