Relatable Reprised

A day of much painting. Not arty painting, either. But arty art there was, later. And despite being a deeply unserious person, I actually found some things that I rather liked. First up, to the opening of Stills latest exhibition: After the End of History: British Working Class Photography1989 – 2024. A Hayward Gallery Touring exhibition (Edinburgh is its last port of call) curated by one Johny Pitts, and well grounded so it is. Though so well attended that I’ll need to go back to see what is actually on the walls.
He’s a sneaky photo - the SK hob-nobbing with Vivienne Gamble , the new Stills Director. Meanwhile Johny Pitts is conversing with Ben Harman, the previous Director. Yeah, that’s the circles we move in. Or maybe it’s staged. Or a photomontage.
Then along to RSA New Contemporaries. Much to like, which I won’t undermine by saying, especially the rather fine selection of free drink. And there was Niamh Finnigan’s wonderful work (extra). Actually deeply serious, I'm sure, but relatable to an unserious person.
