PAIR BONDING TIME

Common Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) drake & hen.
~
The ice recently came off most small ponds around here and even a few lakes are ice free.  So the ducks come in abundance...especially mallards.  They are not on the nest yet but it won't be long.  I'm awaiting the arrival of the Wood ducks (Aix sponsa)...the most beautiful drakes we have in Wisconsin...click link Aix sponsa  Photos to come.  They are cavity nesters unlike mallards.
