SHAMROCK
Today is Flower Friday and today's submission lives on our kitchen table. My wife's birthday is 3/17....St. Patrick's Day and she typically gets a few Shamrock Plants from friends.

The Shamrock (from the Irish seamróg...young clover) is typically associated with St. Patrick's Day and is commonly believed to be one of the clovers. In truth, this particular plant, which looks clover-like is actually more closely related to the Wood Sorrel than to clovers and is in the Genus Oxalis (Oxalis triangularis). In any case, since our ground is still covered with snow, there are no local plants blooming right now so the one on the kitchen able will have to do for Flower Friday.
